The City of Helsinki Construction Committee has on 2 May 2017 (public notice 5 May 2017) granted demolition permit 38-0970-17-P for a 1932 residential building and outbuilding at Malmi Airport.

As the area is subject to a pending protection process, the Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment has today issued a prohibition of endangerment to Malmi Airport.

The protection applicant (Friends of Malmi Airport), City of Helsinki, the Ministry of the Environment, the National Land Survey, the National Board of Antiquities and the Police Department of the Jurisdictional District of Helsinki have been informed about the decision on 8 May 2017. The prohibition of endangerment applies to the whole airport area specified as a Built Cultural Environment of National Significance (RKY).
