The nesting of the near-threatened, protected skylark was in full swing when Armageddon struck.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the aviation use of Malmi Airport, only the immediate vicinity of the runways was kept shortish, and the large open meadows were cut annually near the end of summer after the birds&#8217; nesting season was over.
